Do you know that the best way to discover Newcastle’s East End is on foot? By walking between attractions you can discover interesting places such as the
site of Australia’s first railway, Margaret Olley’s house and art studio or, the old Council Chambers in Watt Street complete with a balcony where
the mayor used to stand to address the crowds below.
Newcastle’s East End Advisory Group worked with local illustrator and member, Liz Anelli, to develop a map that highlights all the attractions in the east end in a quirky and interesting way. This beautifully illustrated and well researched tool introduces locals and visitors to the East End’s historical, artistic and architectural treasures we otherwise would not see unless we are on foot.
