The West End is considered Newcastle's rawest precinct with a selection of new businesses willing to push the boundaries. Here you will find a bakery that
specialises in sourdough cooking classes alongside a small cafe with furniture made from recycled bus seats. Many creatives co-inhabit workspaces,
while leading professional firms have set up shop in restored historical buildings that were once the local bank.
Here you can find a wide mix of cafes and restaurants including one of Newcastle's finest, several independent art galleries, a potpourri of retail outlets, a range of professional offices, churches, hotels and motels, and many residential investment properties.
There's a large shopping centre known as Marketown which is busy building more levels for residential use and a few large franchise stores. You will still find a handful of empty buildings that have been earmarked for development, the West has been labelled Newcastle's future business hub.
