Your Computer may be at risk, follow these steps to ensure your system is working properly
Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11:44AM In November 2011 the FBI closed down a ring of cyber-criminals believed to be responsible for distributing a computer virus known as a DNS changer. Approximately 4 million users worldwide have been affected and this will become a problem on July 9th 2012.
A temporary fix was created to remove the actions of the virus, which changes a user's Domain Name System (DNS) settings, enabling criminals to direct unsuspecting internet users to fraudulent websites and otherwise interfere with their web browsing. If you are infected, you will lose internet access.
This fix will be removed on July the 9th 2012.
- To ensure your computer is not affected go to the Australian Government site: www. dns-ok.gov.au this site will check your computer. You should log on regularly between now and July 9.
