Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 4:21PM On June the 5th Hunter Stadium is playing host to the Qantas Wallabies and Scotland and Newcastle NOW is showing them our support by turning our window green and gold. As an added bonus the best dressed business will receive a prize which includes a visit from a Wallabies playing. So come on Newcastle CBD lets ensure that a business here is the lucky winner.
Entries can be viewed on the Newcastle NSW Facebook page. The winner will be announced on the 28th May and all submissions must be uploaded to Facebook by the 27th May.

Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 2:20PM You may have noticed some new art work if you have been walking around Newcastle, particularly in the West End. The new underwater themed murals are bringing a new look and feel to the area. More murals are planned so watch this space.
Monday, May 14, 2012 at 9:50AM Paid parking has been extended to city west around Marketown and No. 2 Sportsground. New parking meters have been installed and will be operational from Monday 14 May.

NCC have been working on a parking strategy for a number of years using world's best practice and have been speaking with you since September 2011 about the coming changes which will mean
Existing meters west of Darby St that currently operate 9-5pm Monday to Friday will be operational at the same time on weekends from the 1st of July.
Parking time limits will be varied throughout the area to suit business, resident and visitor needs. Some all day parking for local workers will still be available in the area as well as 200 more parking spaces in National Park (No 2 Sportsground).
Weekend free on street parking in the city centre (south of the railway between Pacific and Darby St will continue.

How to Use:
The driver presses the required button on the meter twice to produce a P15 Free ticket. The ticket is displayed on the vehicles dash as normal. The vehicle then has 15 minutes before it has to be moved. Should the driver wish to stay longer than 15 minutes, then payment of the appropriate parking fee will be necessary. Once a P15 Free tickets has been obtained the vehicle must be moved at the expiration of that time.
What NOT to do:
Obtaining a 2nd and subsequent P15 Free tickets to obtain extended period of parking free of charge may result in a parking penalty notice being received.

Christ Church Cathedral and Cathedral Park are iconic heritage assets that a very important to the Newcastle community. The draft Master Plan will ensure the heritage and park are restored and maintained into the future.
Newcastle Voice will be hosting a community information session from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday 23 May. The session will be a chance to hear about the planned improvements and provide feedback about the draft Cathedral Park Master Plan.
