Light up Newcastle Lantern Walk

Light up Newcastle Lantern Walk is a charity fundraiser event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Newcastle that aims for raise funds for the Newcastle Mission to Seafarers, to bring together the community to celebrate Chinese New Year and to stimulate the Honeysuckle Precinct.

The event will be held for the fourth year in 2019 on Saturday 16 February and celebrate the lunar Year of the Pig.

The Lantern Walk is a family-friendly free-entertainment event at the Honeysuckle Precinct. The walks will be from Nobby’s foreshore park and Wickham Figtree park to Honeysuckle where the community will be entertained by Chinese musicians, singers, dancers, lion dancers and demonstrations of Chinese culture and sport.

On the harbour the community will be entertained by dragon boat races, tug water ballets, a parade of sailing boats under light, and fireworks at the conclusion of the event at 9pm.
